Is it too late to become an Olympian?🥇- Ray White Officer

By Gavin Staindl

As a kid I always dreamt of being an Olympian. Forget the fact I wasn’t exceptionally good at sport, nor graced with highly athletic genetics. But I always thought if I tried hard enough maybe I could make it.

Even in my 20s I would see athletes older than me representing Australia at their chosen sport and there was always that glimmer of hope that if I started now and tried hard enough maybe there’s still a chance of becoming an Olympian.
On Wednesday last week I turned 36 years of age. To date I have zero Olympic appearances. I’m now watching my Olympic heroes in Paris all who are younger than me. I’ve lost hope.

That was until last night.

Between last night’s replays of the women’s handball and the heats of the men’s 81kg judo I caught a glimpse of the dressage. Lo and behold, representing Australia was the oldest Olympian at this years Olympic Games.
Mary Hanna was born in Melbourne in 1964 and is a ripe age of 69 years old

This is great news for me! I’ve got another 33 years of hope left in me 🙂

Speaking of hope, quarterly inflation data went up a little bit today.
Here’s hoping the Reserve Bank doesn’t jack up the interest rates as a result.
